started Action Packaging Systems in 1979 as a pressure-sensitive printed label company. “Action” (a shortened industry term for the Company) was routinely called upon and coined this shortened term for its full company name due to its rapid delivery in the industry. Action disrupted the label
industry as they led the nation in delivery for custom printed labels consecutively for 38 years. Doug sold Action in 2018 and subsequently retired in 2021. Shortly thereafter, he realized he was not ready for retirement. He was introduced to the Dry Flush Company, a unique portable toilet manufacturer, he acquired in 2021.

Doug’s Journey to an Eco-Friendly Lawn

Although Doug enjoys building companies, he loves his lawn and uses it for deep reflection often coming up with many ideas while mowing. When he moved closer to the Connecticut, while on one of his lawn mowing reflection times, he wondered if the products he was currently using for his lawn were the best for the environment . He couldn’t help thinking of the ocean now that he was more immersed in coastal living. With that thought, Doug met with a local individual, an organic lawn specialist and chemist. While it took two years of investigation, they created this novel product solution and turned Doug’s lawn from a mediocre lawn to a beautiful lawn, which was also safer for the environment.

Doug’s Mission to Save the Planet

In addition to his boredom in retirement, after acquiring Dry Flush, he also found his forever friend, his beloved Golden Retriever. Doug’s love for his time with his Golden at a local dog park caused him to ask the local dog park people if they knew what the thick scum was on the pond in the middle of the park. While the explanations varied, most said it was runoff from fertilizer and lawn products. Doug immediately thought of his lawn solution and how this product could possibly help others to turn the environment back to a healthier state. This thought was always a constant in his daily trips to the dog park. Then one day, he heard that four deer were trying to drink from this pond with the scum on it. That was it!, The fire was lit for him to do something.

Doug worked tirelessly to create the same solution he was using for his lawn but made it easier, more economical, and specifically designed for the Do-It-Yourself homeowner who wants a green lawn while saving the planet
